Aakash 2 (Ubislate 7+) Tablet Will Be Available In May : Kapil Sibal

The much awaited Ubislate 7+ aka Aakash 2 tablet now again delayed by another month, and now tablet will be available by May this year says Kapil Sibal Human Resources Development Minister of India.

Last month in Hon. minister kapil sibal announced that Aakash 2 tablet will be available by April 2012 this year.
This is very frustrating for all of those who eagerly waiting for low-cost tablet to come in market. 
This is third time that Tablet is getting delayed from last 3 months, 

Datawind and Indian government is promising user that tablet will be shortly available in market but all goes in vain.

On the event of ndtv gadget guru conclave & awards 2012 Rajiv makhni asked Hon. minister Kapil sibal, When Aakash tablet will be available, Kapil Sibal said,

”Aakash 2 will be unveiled on May 22 with upgraded features like capacitive touch display, 800 MHz processor in same price tag.”

It is very doubtful that even in May Tablet will be available in market. 

Datawind now even not answering calls or replying to any mail, 

Customers who pre-ordered tablet by paying money in advance for prioritized delivery of tablet complaining that Datawind is not answering their calls nor replying to their complaints. 

Early in february Datawind on facebook announced that user can now check delivery status of their tablet who already booked the tablet, 

But that feature never gets available on the website of ubislate and keep flashing ”coming soon”.

It looks like Datawind is in no mood to unveil the tablet in coming period. 

It is also noticeable that while Datawind says upgraded version of Aakash tablet comes with 700 Mhz processor but there will be no capacitive display, 

Other side Hon. min kapil sibal keep saying that there will be capacitive touch display in Aakash 2 tablet. 

On official website of Ubislate it is also mentioned that upgraded version has no capacitive display. With all the mess and confusion between Datawind and Indian government it is highly possible that tablet might not available even after next 2 months.

Looks like consumer now need to move on to other affordable tablets which are easily available in market and alternate to Aakash tablet.

It seems that the much awaited cheapest tablet in world Ubislate7+ is on its way, and will be available by end of this month, if we believe the words of Datawind’s CEO suneet singh tuli.

In exclusive interview with EFYTimes, Sunnet singh tuli said:-

“We will be launching our UbiSlate7+ later this month,”  he also revealed that exact date of launch will be announced shortly by Datawind.

Datawind CEO also said that Government Aakash 2 might be available in early May he replied.

Suneet singh tuli also revealed upgraded Aakash tablet may get latest Google Android 4.0 os aka ice cream sandwich update. Mr. Tuli said,

“At launch, Aakash 2 will support Android 2.3, but we’re also actively working on Android 4.0 and expect to be able to offer an Android 4.0 upgrade in about six to eight weeks after delivery.”

When asked about specifications of upgraded Aakash aka Aakash 2  he replied,

While older Aakash tablet equipped with ARM 11 366Mhz processor new Aakash 2 comes with  800MHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor. Aakash 2 also comes with capacitive 7 inch display instead of resistive display in older Aakash. Other major change is battery, while older Aakash has 2100 mAh battery, upgraded Aakash 2 will have powerful 3200 mAh battery which deliver more back up time than previous tablet.

Suneet Singh Tuli, CEO of DataWind, which was engaged in a project Aakash, reported that second-generation Aakash aka Ubislate 7+ will updated to latest Android operating system  version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich . The new Tablet PC Ubislate 7+ will go on sale in India in the next two to three weeks.

It is unclear how the software will be distributed by air or through a computer, but that it will be available in the near future, there is no doubt. 
Most interesting is that the 
hardware of Aakash 2 does not match even the minimum requirements of the operating system, Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

Ubislate 7+ has only 256 MB RAM, 2 GB of internal memory 
and a single core processor with a clock frequency of 800 MHz. 
If you remember, 
Google has refused to renew its original smartphone Nexus One to ICS, although the device has 512 MB of RAM.
